“Other girls played with Barbie dolls, but I played with Matchbox toy cars,” says Marijke White, explaining her fascination with cars. The former model, who was in demand with the fashion houses of Paris, Milan and New York, now chooses a Jaguar F-Type R as her daily driver to her office as Director of Sales for Residences 400 Central in St. Petersburg. Jaguar doesn’t admit the “R” means “Race,” but with 600 hp, a lightweight aluminum body and a top speed of 196 mph, White can easily handle any stoplight challenges.
She also has a private garage at Motor Enclave, the luxury community built around a racetrack. Here she stores—and plays with on the 1.7-mile track—her Porsche Cayman 718 (170 mph) and her Abarth 124 (159 mph) “as many days as I can,” which is about eight days a month.
She re-colored her Jag with a vinyl wrap from Redline Designs of Tampa in a dark stealth green tone, though she sometimes re-wraps it (a Grinch design for Christmas) for the many charity events she organizes for children with cancer or leukemia. What’s next? Marijke reluctantly admits she’s been eyeing an Aston Martin Vantage (200 mph).
