Whether it’s views of the crystalline Gulf shoreline, the gentle waves of Tampa Bay or soaking one’s feet in the backyard pool, water is an essential part of life in our region. Vig Mayol’s vibrant paintings capture rejuvenating moments swimming in calm waters and the essence of relaxing days lounging poolside. Her recent series “Swimmers” hovers between abstraction and figuration, with a woman gracefully gliding through the water.
Each painting features Mayol’s signature palette of turquoise and sky blue, lavender purple, blush pink and pops of chartreuse green. Mayol captures the warm Florida light in these works with glistening reflections on the water’s surface. Born and raised in Argentina, Vig Mayol resides in Sarasota.
